Residential Christmas Lighting

What Does Residential Christmas Light Installation Include?

C9 and C7 Roofline Bulbs

Rooflines, eaves and gables are outlined with LED C9 or C7 bulbs held on clips, which keeps spacing even along every edge. Warm white reads classic and multicolor reads playful.

Mini-Light Tree Wraps

Trunks and major limbs are wrapped tightly in mini lights, and canopy wraps carry light up into the branches. Wrap density is what makes a tree look solid from the street instead of spotty.

Lit Garland and Wreaths

Pre-lit garland on entries, porch columns and railings, plus wreaths on gables or windows, give the house color during the day and frame the front door at night.

Ground Displays and RGB Accents

Ground displays, lit walkways and RGB specialty lighting add a focal point in the yard. They are placed around sprinkler heads, foot traffic and safe cord paths.

Timers, Cords and Connections

Timers, cords and connections are set during installation, so the display turns on at dusk and off at the hour you choose without anyone touching a plug.

Repairs, Takedown and Storage

If a section fails during the season, the crew comes back to repair it. In January or February everything comes down and goes to our facility, so your garage stays clear.

Full-Service Christmas Lighting vs. Buying Your Own Lights

A full-service program means the lights, clips, cords and decor belong to us. We design the display around your house, supply commercial-grade LED products, install them and keep them working through the season. You do not buy strands that fade after two winters, sort tangled boxes in the garage or climb a two-story roofline in the dark. The seasonal price covers the whole season, not just a product.

Doing it yourself looks cheaper on paper until you count the ladder time, the bulbs that quit by mid-December and the January afternoon spent pulling clips off the gutters. With us, a failed section is a phone call, and takedown is on our calendar instead of yours. Because the decor is stored at our facility, next year's display can stay the same, grow or change colors entirely.

  • No strands, clips or storage bins to buy

  • No roof work for you or your family

  • Failed sections repaired during the season

  • Display kept, expanded or redesigned next year

“We have had Kaylor Landscape install our lighting for the Christmas season for many years. It is always done on time and if there is a problem with the weather damaging the lights, they are always out to our house quickly to fix the lighting.”

Seasonal Christmas Lights or Permanent Roofline Lighting?

Seasonal lighting is the traditional look: LED C9 rooflines, wrapped trees, garland, wreaths and ground displays, installed for the holidays and removed afterward. It suits homeowners who want greenery and lit trees, and who like the option of a different look each year. Seasonal packages are priced per home after a design consultation, and every product is supplied, maintained and stored by us.

Permanent lighting stays on the house all year. We install PermaLites 365, an outward-facing roofline system, and OMNI RGB, a concealed under-eave track with a dedicated warm-white diode and app control. OMNI is priced by the linear foot of roofline and carries a 15-year product warranty. Many homes pair a permanent roofline with seasonal tree wraps and garland.

  • Seasonal: trees, garland, wreaths and ground displays

  • Permanent: roofline lighting for every holiday

  • OMNI: 15-year product warranty, 1-year Kaylor labor

  • Both can be combined on one home

Christmas Lighting Conditions Across the Central Valley

Tule Fog and Winter Rain

December in the valley brings dense tule fog and rain. Brighter C9 rooflines and solid tree wraps stay readable in fog better than thin strands, and in-season repairs cover sections that weather knocks out.

Dark Before 5 p.m.

Valley sunsets in early December come around 4:45 p.m. Timers set at installation turn the display on at dusk, so it is lit for the drive home and for families out walking.

Tile, Stucco and Shingle Roofs

Valley homes range from composition-shingle ranch houses to stucco two-stories with tile roofs. Attachment is planned for each roof and gutter type so lights sit straight without damaging the roof.

Light Traditions From Fresno to Bakersfield

Fresno's Christmas Tree Lane, the Candy Cane Lane area on the Fresno–Clovis side, Hanford Winter Wonderland and the lit homes of Seven Oaks and Haggin Oaks in Bakersfield are all in our service area.

Pricing

How Much Does Christmas Light Installation Cost in Central California?

Every residential proposal rolls design, products, installation, in-season maintenance, takedown and storage into one seasonal price. We set that price in a written proposal after an on-site design consultation, and it depends mostly on the factors below.

Linear Feet of Roofline

Every foot of eave and gable needs bulbs, clips and install time. A long single-story ranch house can carry as much footage as a compact two-story.

Height and Roof Pitch

Second stories, steep pitches and tile roofs take more equipment and slower, more careful work than low composition roofs.

Tree Count and Wrap Style

A trunk-only wrap is quick. A full canopy wrap on a mature oak or redwood can take more lights than the entire roofline.

Greenery and Wreaths

Lit garland on columns and railings and wreaths on gables add materials and labor, along with daytime curb appeal.

Ground Displays and RGB

Ground displays, lit walkways and RGB specialty lighting are priced by the piece and by how complex the setup is.

Power Layout

Where your exterior outlets sit and how many circuits are available affects cord runs and how the display is split across timers.

FAQ

Residential Christmas Lighting: Common Questions

How much does professional Christmas light installation cost for a home in Central California?

Each home is priced in a written proposal after an on-site design consultation. Residential packages typically start around $1,800 per season. The seasonal price includes custom design, commercial-grade LED lights and decor, installation, in-season repairs, takedown and off-season storage. Roofline length, second stories, mature trees and specialty displays such as ground pieces or RGB accents move the total most.

Do I have to buy, own or store the Christmas lights?

No. We supply all lights, clips, cords and decor, maintain them during the season, then remove them and store them at our facility. You never buy strands or clear space in the garage, and next year's display can be repeated, expanded or redesigned from the stored inventory.

Which cities and counties do you serve for residential Christmas lighting?

Our core residential cities are Fresno, Clovis, Visalia, Tulare, Porterville, Hanford and Bakersfield. Our service list also covers towns across Tulare, Kings, Fresno, Kern and Madera counties. Call 800-791-3330 if you are not sure your address is covered.

When should I book residential Christmas light installation?

Installs start in September, and takedown runs January through February or on a custom date. Book as early as you can. Installation capacity is limited each season, and the earliest bookings get the widest choice of install dates. The main date to plan around is when you want the lights turned on.

Will Christmas light clips damage my roof or gutters?

Roofline lights are normally attached with plastic clips made for shingles, tile, parapets and metal roofs rather than nails or staples, which avoids holes in fascia and roofing. Attachment for your roof type is planned during the consultation. If you have a concern about a specific roof, note it in your request and the proposal will address it.

Do I need extra outlets or electrical work for a Christmas light display?

Most homes do not. Displays usually run from existing exterior outlets, and LED products draw far less power than older incandescent strands. Cord runs and timers are planned during installation. If a large design needs more capacity than your outlets supply, we will raise it during the consultation so it can be planned before install day.

What is the difference between seasonal Christmas lights and permanent lighting?

Seasonal lights go up for the holidays and come down afterward, and they can include trees, garland, wreaths and ground displays. Permanent systems like PermaLites 365 and OMNI RGB stay on the roofline year-round with app control. OMNI is priced by the linear foot of roofline and carries a 15-year product warranty, so a permanent proposal depends mostly on how much roofline you want lit.

Who installs Christmas Decor by Kaylor displays?

Our own crews do. Christmas Decor by Kaylor is the Christmas division of Kaylor Landscape, established in 1974, and has decorated Central California homes since 1998. Chris Kaylor and his son LC lead the company, which completes more than 300 residential and commercial projects each season from its base in Porterville.

Is there a Christmas light hanging service near me in Central California?

Yes. Christmas Decor by Kaylor Landscape is a full-service Christmas light installation and hanging company for homes across Fresno, Kings, Tulare, Kern and Madera counties. Our crews design the display, hang the lights, repair any failed sections during the season, then take everything down in January or February and store it at our facility. Request a consultation online or call 800-791-3330.

Why hire professional Christmas light installers in Central California instead of hanging lights yourself?

Professional installation means you never buy, climb, untangle or store the lights. We supply commercial-grade LED products, attach them with clips made for your roof and gutters instead of nails or staples, and our crew handles every run above the first story. If a section fails during the season, the repair is part of your package, and takedown and storage are included.
